CRIMINAL RECORDS SEARCH

- County Court Record Searches:
  The most accurate source of information available on a local level. Our researchers perform a live, hands-on records search at county court houses. The information contained in these files is the most current available, including arrests and pending cases.
  Verification turnaround time: 2-3 business days.

- State Records:
  Not available in all states. While we encourage a state record search, we can only obtain records that have been reported and are available. Because state databases are not updated regularly and/or not all information is transferred from the courts, we strongly advise our clients to use this in conjunction with the county search.
  Verification turnaround time: 1-3 business days.

- Federal Records:
  The US Federal Criminal Record Search includes access to all 94 federal courts in the US to uncover violations of federal criminal law. They include, for example, bank robbery, interstate drug trafficking, mail fraud, securities fraud, certain types of firearm violations, and crimes committed on federal property.
  Verification turnaround time: 1 business day.

- Nationwide Criminal Record Index:
  A good auxiliary criminal record search to the State and County levels. The nationwide search, while not comprehensive (as not all locations are required to report findings to this database), may pick up records from geographical locations where your applicant may have been but did not inform you of. The usefulness of the NCRI lies in its “shotgun” approach, and any results found should be followed up by a physical court search on the county level.

- CrimeChexPlus:
  CrimeChexPlus is a fast and economical way to check aspects of an applicant’s identity, as well as a large number of criminal record databases (including sex offender status) to determine if he/she has identity issues and/or criminal histories you should be concerned about. A Multi-Database Address, SSN, Name, and Criminal Record Check that is like “throwing a net” over the U.S. (and around the world, to some degree) to see what you can catch. In addition to the criminal databases checked, it verifies the validity of the applicant’s Social Security Number (but is NOT a substitute for federal E-Verify authentication) and provides address and name details going back 1-25 years.

Some states provide a check of an individual’s criminal history throughout the entire state.   The educational institute will be contacted to verify the following: dates of attendance, course of study, graduation status, type of degree, and any achievements or honors that were received. The name, title, and telephone number of the verifying party is documented. - Department of Transportation Employment Verification
  There is a specialized employment verification required of commercial drivers, and federal law requires that specific background screenings must be completed, including verification of previous employment and drug/alcohol testing.

MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS

LaborChex offers driving records from every state, and we supply instant access to driving records from the states that furnish immediate results. EMPLOYMENT CREDIT REPORT

If your employees will be handling cash, securities, payroll, or bank deposits, you may want to consider running a credit check on any employees or applicants as part of your employment screening process. In addition to pointing out credit histories, bankruptcies, and other details, this report can also provide information about previous addresses and employment, dates of employment and wage details, civil suits, and other information of public record. This report is designed to give an employer the pertinent information needed to help make quick, consistent decisions. To comply with federal laws as outlined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), a LaborChex release must be signed by the applicant to obtain a credit report. There are also very specific regulations regarding the use of credit reports for employment screening. Employers must complete a one-time credentialing process to meet specific legal requirements. If an on-site inspection is required to verify that your business is eligible to run employment credit checks, you’ll pay a one-time fee of $30.00. INTERNATIONAL CHECKS

International criminal searches turn up crimes and offenses in a candidate’s previous countries of residence. Criminal background information is subject to limited availability based on a country’s laws and regulations. Some countries maintain only paper files at local jurisdictions or police departments, which can result in longer turnaround times. Verification turnaround time: 7 – 10 business days
